The Crown Society of Canada is proud to offer The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award — Canada as an Award Centre. Designed for young people aged 14 to 24, the Award is a personal journey built on commitment, progress and learning through experience.
A PERSONAL CHALLENGE, NOT A COMPETITION
The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is a non-competitive development framework that invites each young person to choose activities, set goals and progress at their own pace. The journey helps participants build confidence, independence, perseverance, leadership and the ability to make a positive contribution to their community.

AWARD LEVELS
Bronze
Starting at age 14
An introductory journey that teaches goal setting, time management and consistent commitment. Typical duration: 13 to 26 weeks, depending on the participant's pathway.
Silver
Starting at age 15
A more sustained challenge that develops perseverance, responsibility, teamwork and leadership. Typical duration: 26 to 52 weeks, depending on the participant's pathway.
Gold
Starting at age 16
The most advanced level, focused on long-term commitment, more demanding goals and the Gold Project. Typical duration: 52 to 78 weeks, depending on the participant's pathway.
AWARD SECTIONS
Physical Recreation
Choose an activity that supports an active lifestyle and progress toward a personal goal: running, swimming, cycling, fitness training, dance, martial arts or team sports.
Skills
Develop a new skill or improve an existing one: music, photography, cooking, coding, first aid, art, a second language or public speaking.
Voluntary Service
Give time to a cause, organization or people in the community: volunteering, supporting an event, environmental work, mentoring or a civic project.
Adventurous Journey
Plan and complete a team experience with a clear purpose, developing independence, preparation, teamwork and problem-solving.
Gold Project (Gold level)
Complete an additional experience away from your usual environment to meet new people and contribute to a structured project.

As an Award Centre, Crown Society of Canada provides participants with a structured environment and ongoing support.
Welcome and Registration
Introduce the Award to young people and families, manage local registration and provide an orientation session.
Support
Help participants select activities and set realistic goals, and explain the role of assessors and section requirements.
Monitoring
Monitor progress, answer questions and support Adventurous Journey preparation.
Recognition
Review participant records before submission for approval, then recognize and celebrate achievements.
